What's going on this WED?!!

This Wednesday August 1st (can you believe it's already August) we have SUMMER NIGHT LIGHTS! SNL. The location is Normandale Park 22400 South Halldale Ave, Torrance 90501 at 6:30pm. Come join us for a sweet time of fellowship and sharing God's love with the local community. We could use your help to set up, pray up and clean up. We let the Holy Spirit lead us each week for the agenda and needs of the people who show up. See you there!

Worship Night

A blessed evening with worship, prayer, words of encouragement and a FIESTA! Mostly, just spending time in the presence of God and good friends. Thanks to everyone who came out, worshipped with all their hearts and brought food to share. Until next jam sesh....

Worship/Jam Session/Potluck Night!!!

This Friday we are doing something so COOL. We are taking part in the movement of the Holy Spirit, and responding to God with songs, vocals, instruments, prayer and more! It's called ONE GOD, ONE VOICE. It's an unplugged, acoustic worship event.

**We're even moving the chairs out of the way, so bring a bean bag or large pillow to sit on if you have one!

Here's the scoop:
  1. Bring your cajon, tambourine, harmonica, guitar, egg shaker, triangle, home made instrument, keyboard, violin, bass, flute, cymbals, maracas, ukulele, or lute (found in the Bible, no one knows what it is...haha).
  2. Bring your lovely singing voice - loud or soft, on key or off key
  3. Relax, unwind, lay off all distractions from the week and come open to God and His moving in your life. Step into the freedom of public worship with your bros and sis' who love the Lord.
Immediately following the worship event, we will have a FIESTA fellowship. Bring a dish/dessert to share with everyone, because sharing is caring! Bring your favorite "Mexican" dish to share with the hermanos y hermanas (brothers and sisters) as we have a great time of fellowship.

The night will be spent responding to God, praising Him and hearing what He has to for us. There is no formal schedule for Friday, as we want to remain open to His agenda. But at some point, we will break bread together, and all enjoy the potluck food! See you Friday. 7:30pm in the Jr. High room.

This picture is from Oct '11 at the Backyard Missions Trip in Downtown L.A./Long Beach/San Pedro. We busted out our instruments and shared songs, into the wee hours of the morning until our voices were no more. It was so, so sweet! God is good. All the time!

7/20/12 Forgiveness Brings Freedom

Friday we had an outstanding time gathering to hear God's Word, and spend time in His presence. We had a beautiful worship set and a nice group of ladies & gents all come out (including a few sets of siblings- see pic)!

Jose Sanchez shared about forgiveness, unforgiveness and the ministry of reconciliation. He shared Psalm 51, 103 and 2 Cor 5:17-19. He reminded us not to put ourselves down or stay in our shame, but to release our hold on sin and live in the victory of Jesus. If we come in humility to Jesus, we can re-connect with Him, our debt is cancelled and we can live freely. He even shared a personal testimony that touched our hearts - praise God!

We ended the night with a time of worship and prayer. We especially want to lift up those who are attending the Missions Training Camp this weekend in San Pedro. Also, come out next Friday night for our all might musical event and potluck. Bring a musical instrument for a time of worship to our Lord, bring some food to share afterwards and invite a friend! See you all then~ have a blessed week!

Dudes hang out! 7/18

The guys from the Bridge got together for a night of hanging out and grubbing! They met up at Anthony's place for a good time. Jasiel joined them via FaceTime to open the night in prayer. They had a potluck and a sweet time of worship, prayer and small groups! A great time of just the fellas.

Meanwhile the ladies were gathered at Xu's place across town. They did top secret activities {hide all evidence} haha jk - nail painting and prepping crafts for the Haiti Missions team. It was a blessed night for sure and so special to bond with the sisters in the Lord.

God is so good - all the time. Times of food and fellowship are always an encouragement and a time of sharing our lives together.

Same but Different Series: Small Groups!

Friday night we did things a bit different at the Bridge. We started the night with the girls in the Jr. High room and the guys upstairs in the Kid's Sanctuary. There's a certain element of sweetness to be in the presence of 'only ladies' or 'just dudes' - to enter the presence of God together.

Each group had a beautiful and calming time of worship and then a full hour of small group discussion times the ladies covered the three hot topics:
1. Appearance
2. Relationships
3. Conviction "Grey areas"

And the guys covered the three hot topics:

1. Boldness
2. Purity (Physically and Spiritually)
3. Convictions "Christian Liberties"

Discussion time is always too short- as we openly shared about areas that God is working on in our lives. We could have talked for hours, but alas we are confident that God had those specific people and short moments to encourage our hearts as we walk with Jesus. What a blessed time we had! Come and join us next Friday night!

Here's a picture of those who arrived early, praying as a group before the night started.

The Same but Different Series: Part 4

Here's a brief recap of a great Friday night Young Adult group study.  Come join us if you are looking for a place to be fed God's Word, encouraged in your faith, and meet and hang with like minded, young people who are your age!

After a time of worship, Stephanie gave an incredible testimony about her family surviving the recent fires in Colorado Springs. Praise God her home was spared and He revealed some great things about Himself to her. She studied the same scripture we covered in our study: Romans 12:1-2. Steph shared that because of God's mercies, we can always come to Him. That we ought to continually surrender to Him and sacrifice everything we have and are. She related the roaring fires to the sanctification process (the process of being made pure). The heat, the pain, the trials are all for a larger purpose in His plan and will for our lives. It was a blessing to see her draw closer to Christ through her experience and share from her heart to encourage us.

The scripture for part 4 of our Same but Different series was focused around Romans 12:1-2.  The idea was to focus on how we carry ourselves as men and women living for Christ. We learned that we must give everything we are to Him, renew our minds, transform our hearts and not conform, and strive to please and honor Him.

The girls stayed in the Jr. High room and the dudes headed upstairs to the Children's Sanctuary for a short time of small groups. What's so neat about small group time is that it provides an interactive experience for learning God's Word and applying it to your own life. It makes the lesson more
personal. Plus, you're with your own gender and that allows for a great exchange of thoughts and ideas amongst those who can relate to you best.

Pastor Dennis and his wife Xu each led a short devotional on the scripture passage before small group discussion time. They broke down the scriptures word for word, giving deeper insight to the meaning of the words and the intent of the author. They also posed great application questions: What can you sacrifice? How? In what ways are you conforming to this world? How can your mind be renewed?

It was another blessed night! Come join us on Fridays at 7:30 and we continue learning about God's design and roles for both men and women alike. Next Friday we'll have another great opportunity for small group discussion (guys and girls split) and a chance to learn about Him greater (and get to know each other better, too).

See you there! Keep checking this page as we'll have some incredible Summer opportunities to get involved in our ministry and the community, coming soon!

The Same but Different Series: Part 4

Join us tonight at 7:30pm in the Jr. High room as we continue our series learning about the creation, roles and design God has for men and women. We'll take a look at OUR OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE GOD as we discuss Romans 12:1-2 and the importance of giving ourselves to God and allowing Him to change us from the inside out! See you tonight!

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" - Romans 12:1-2

GO WORKSHOP!

Friday night we met in the kids sanctuary to worship and learn about evangelism. We were encouraged by watching role playing examples that challenged us on what we say and how we share our faith. We were reminded to stay open to the Holy Spirit when speaking to others about God.

The guys performed a skit called 'Brand New Man' which showcased a man struggling with his sins and being saved by Christ, which sent out a ripple effect in his life. Because of the grace, love and forgiveness of his sins, he was compelled to share with others and point them to Jesus. It was very encouraging! All of that prepped us to GO!

We had multiple coed groups head out to a car show in San Pedro. As the people headed into the show or exited, we passed out 'Ticket to Heaven' tracts as conversation starters to talk with them about God. Our hope was that people would encounter Christ, in a thought or a conversation. There was a large crowd at the car show and prayerfully seeds of faith were planted in people's hearts and they were encouraged in some way to look to Jesus.

We were all encouraged to step out of our comfort zone more often out of compassion for others who need the saving grace and love of Jesus! Until we GO again...
