GO Workshop was a huge success!

Hey guys!

Last Friday night, many people came out to be filled with the Holy Spirit and gain encouragement to GO spread the word of Jesus. After the meeting, the group split up into three teams and went down to Narbonne High School ’s football game to share the gospel. We stood among the crowd, starting conversations about Jesus and heaven and how someone can get there.
Before we left on the mission though, Pastor Dennis spoke to us about Phillip explaining Christ's death and resurrection to the eunuch in Ethiopia . Phillip heard the Lord’s command to “Go south to the road – the desert road” and in obedience, Phillip got up and went.
When he encountered the eunuch trying to understand Isaiah’s prophesy about Jesus, Phillip asked “Do you understand what you are reading?” and the eunuch asked “How can I unless someone explains it to me?”

As believers with the Spirit of Truth in us, we are called to tell everyone about God’s love and explain why Jesus died on the cross.
And through Phillip’s obedience, the eunuch was saved, baptized, and came up out of the water rejoicing!

So with that in mind.....who’s ready to GO??

GO Evangelism Workshop!

Hello everyone!

This week we have another exciting opportunity to reach out to our community at the GO Evangelism Workshop! The Workshop will take place on Friday, September 28 at 7pm in the Kid’s Sanctuary.

“REACH AND PREACH”
2 Corinthians 4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.”

Evangelism is not a presentation, but a conversation.  Our world is looking for truth and we have an amazing opportunity to share the truth of God’s Word. Learn how to engage people in a conversation and effectively share the Gospel.

· REACH out in order to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10)
· PREACH Jesus and be involved in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19)

Be equipped and encouraged in the area of evangelism.
Immediately following the workshop, will be a time of putting into practice what we have learned and sharing the Gospel in our community.
SPREAD THE WORD!!!!

Faith Foundations Part 7: Physical and Spiritual Baptism

Last Friday night, three special speakers from the Bridge answered some important questions that some of us were wondering…

Q. Why do people misrepresent God’s gospel to inhibit the weak?”
Maria shared with the group that we as Christians should be careful to
impart lessons that God wants his people and unbelievers to learn.
Our agenda should carefully reflect God’s agenda, and when we’re
unsure of a subject or issue, we should turn to the Bible for clarity.

The theme for the two sessions discussed that night was baptism by
the Holy Spirit physically and spiritually:

Leo gave us great insight into What and Why believers baptize with
water: John the Baptist baptized those who wanted to repent and
have a close relationship with God. Jesus already had that close
relationship with God, but he chose to be baptized to identify with
sinful man.

Jared addressed the spiritual side of baptism:
Believers literally have the power of Christ, the Holy Spirit, living in
them. The Spirit is constantly working through us, so that others
might see the power of God and believe. In Acts 2:1-4, the apostles
were waiting on the Lord in Jerusalem for the “gift” that Jesus said
would come. That gift, the Holy Spirit, did come with wind and fire
and the apostles began speaking in tongues; Peter reminded onlookers
that prophesy was being fulfilled, and the people saw and believed.

Thinking It Over: God gave his people the Holy Spirit to work in our
lives and be a light to the world. How do you know you have the Holy
Spirit? What evidence is in your life that shows he’s apart of you?

1 Thessalonians chapter 1

We had an awesome meeting Wed night. The guys/ladies had joint worship to begin the night and then studied chapter 1 of 1 Thessalonians in small groups. Key words from Paul's letter to the new church are:

Power, Holy Spirit, faith, example, imitators of Christ, and labor of love.
The church that Paul wrote to, lived their lives as witnesses to the Gospel to believers and non-believers alike. They repented from their former ways of worshipping idols and loved people, endured through painful suffering and remained faithful to Jesus.

We can take a lot away from this church's example. A question to challenge us: What would Paul report about our life? Would he say that we are faithful, laboring in love and imitating Christ?

Faith Foundations Part 6: Atonement & the Infallible Word of God

Tonight was a blessed time of Bible study and worship. We changed it up a bit by splitting into two classrooms to hear two incredible messages. In one room, Bobby spoke about the INFALLIBLE Word of God. It is without error, foolproof and dependable. In the other room, Mark shared with us about ATONEMENT and how Jesus' blood covers our past, present and future sins. We can repent and turn from our former sinful ways to follow Him and be cleansed. There was plenty to learn from the sessions and the Holy Spirit filled the room as we sang songs to our Savior Jesus Christ. Praise God!

Faith Foundations Part 5: Holy Spirit

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."
John 14:16-17

He's a still small voice. He acts like your conscience. He's like the wind. Where you lack, the Holy Spirit fills in. He's your advocate. He's your comforter. He is a Divine person of the Trinity. Who is He to you? How is He displayed in your life?

Application challenge:
Instead of "How can I get more of the Holy Spirit?" ask yourself: "How can the Holy Spirit have more of me?"

Faith Foundations Part 5: The Presence, Power and Purpose of the Holy Spirit

2 Timothy 2:15
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth"

Do you know what you believe? Better yet, do you know WHY you believe? We live in a world that's asking us (Christians) the questions:

  • Can we trust the Bible?
  • Did Jesus really exist?
  • Is Jesus the only way to Heaven?
It's time for us a believers to be completely equipped with the Word of God and the evidence to "quiet" the voices of the world with the "Truth".

Join us TONIGHT (Friday) September 7th at 7:30pm in the Jr. High Room as we continue to examine and equip ourselves with our FAITH FOUNDATIONS and we discover the essentials of our faith. We'll be looking at the HOLY SPIRIT and His presence, power and purpose!

*** L.A. Harvest Crusade: Tomorrow, Saturday September 8th. Meet at 3:30pm outside of the Kid's Sanctuary. Please sign up tonight at the Bridge meeting and also be sure to let us know if you can drive.

Dude's Discipleship & Daughter's of the King Kick Off!

We will be studying 1 Thessalonians from Sept - Dec! We established tonight that our discipleship meetings require committed individuals who are open to receiving God's fullest blessing through His Word. Our purpose is to study His Word, imitate His character and follow Him closely. We can practice this through songs, serving, praying, sharing and loving one another. Our ultimate aim is to grow closer to JESUS, to be challenged and pushed in our faith and spiritual disciplines. We have an incredible opportunity for friendship and accountability! We expect great things from our great GOD!

Dudes & Daughter's of the King: Small Groups FALL 2012

“The community of the saints is not an "ideal" community consisting of perfect and sinless men and women, where there is no need of further repentance. No, it is a community which proves that it is worthy of the gospel of forgiveness by constantly and sincerely proclaiming God's forgiveness...Sanctification means driving out the world from the Church as well as separating the Church from the world. But the purpose of such discipline is not to establish a community of the perfect, but a community consisting of men who really live under the forgiving mercy of God.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship

You may have heard our announcement for the past few weeks on our Friday night meetings. We have been enthusiastically promoting discipleship for guys and ladies that are starting once a week for the FALL semester. Whether you've heard the announcement before or reading this is your first notification, we implore you to truly consider joining us as we begin our twice a month small groups.

How do these groups work?

We meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of the month. This WED September 5th is our first meeting. At 7pm, everyone gathers together in children's classroom 3A to say hello, hang out a bit, and prep the food. We like to do potluck style, where everyone brings a small dish to share and in the past we've had quite a selection of fast food, home made dishes, and desserts. We usually start with an uplifting time of joint worship, a few announcements and then we split up guys/girls in different classrooms. The reason we split is to develop deeper relationships with those of our own gender and cover issues, topics and study applications with those who can best relate.  In our separate classrooms we split into groups of 3-5 to cover a particular passage and share prayer requests.

What is the purpose of these meetings?

The purpose of discipleship groups is to provide you a place to grow in your intimacy with Jesus Christ, study His Word and find accountability with like-minded sisters and brothers. We hope that God is already stirring your heart, at work in your life and we simply provide a place for you to come draw near to Him. We also strongly believe that coming along side one another encourages everyone and is an act of obedience to God.

Hebrews 10:25 says "25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching" Amen!

It's always a really, really blessed time. Everyone is friendly and welcoming.
We hope to see you this Wednesday.

Audience of One 8/31: 60's throwback

We had a superb turnout last night at the Cornerstone Cafe at CCSB. Over 50 young adults came out to share songs, poems, and encouragements with one another. A few people donned great 60's era clothing! We even prayed for two sets of engaged couples who attend the bridge: Alex /Josie and Anthony/Stacie. Thanks to all who shared their talents...our next one will be in NOV - 70's theme! Groovy!
