Saturdays At the Warehouse!!

Recently, the Bridge has been reaching out of our own backyard to minister and encourage the homeless community in Echo Park. Every fourth Saturday of the month, Bridge members and other volunteers visit the "Warehouse" to spread the love of Christ through different activities. Some prayed while others helped serve a special dinner. We gave out hand crafted notes of encouragement, and as a special treat, we came together to sing as a "heavenly" choir. What a blessing!
~~~Come join us on March 30th for the next outreach!~~~
Who is GOD to you??
This was the overall question we covered last Friday with the help and insight of our guest speaker, 'T'. He shared an enlightening devo about the names and attributes of God and the different ways we can get to know Him better. After the study, we broke up into small groups and dug deeper in discussion, describing who God has been personally to each one of us.
Here's a quick Q & A we covered that evening:
Q: How can we know more about God?
A: Prayer... Reading the B.I.B.L.E (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) ... and Fellowship with "fellow" believers.
Q: What are the 3 traits of God?
A: He is Omniscient (knows everything), Omnipresent (is everywhere), and Omnipotent (all powerful, and mighty in strength).
Q: What are the different names of God?
A: Abba ("Papa, Father")... El Shaddai ("Almighty God", "The Mighty One of Jacob")... Jehovah Rapha ("The Lord who Heals")... Jehovah Jireh ("The Lord will Provide")...
Q: Want to know more?
God: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13)
We'll have a short time of small groups after the message. It's time to make it personal!
Discipleship: 2 Thess 2:1-4!
Last night's meeting was uplifting and encouraging during the middle of our week! We studied 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 1-4. The key verse for the study was verse 2:
"not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come."
Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians was sent to clarify the coming of Christ and encourage the believers to be prepared daily , and not to slack off. Also, to keep their faith that Christ will return, but has not yet.
Our challenge was to "not be shaken" when the enemy, anti-christ, man of lawlessness, man of sin or any evil threatens our faith in Christ Jesus. We were reminded that Jesus is victorious and we have no reason to fear or be moved. Queena and Jared suggested this phrase: "unshaken, but stirred"!!
It was a cold night, but many guys and gals came out to hear about God's Word and be transformed by it's power.
An Amazing Date Night with God !!
Date night was a ton of fun! The Bridge broke up into teams and rushed all over the city, completing crazy tasks before the time was up. We had a super blessed time getting to know each other on the road, exchanging gifts with random people, and hearing interesting stories when we returned. Afterwards, we were surprised with a valentine's dinner, accompanied by music and reflection on God's unconditional love for us. It was a lovely night! Thanks all for driving safely and creating a beautiful evening together.
Know Your A B Cs !!!
So we all know how to sing the alphabet song... some can even sing it in Espanol! But last night, Pastor D challenged us to learn the character of God, one letter at a time.
It's easy sometimes to say that God is "Wonderful", or "Loving" or "Faithful", but what does that mean? Do we really believe what we say, what the Bible says about God, and who He declares He is? The take home worksheet (down below) works as a guide to help curious believers explore who He is and who He wants to be in our lives. Perhaps He is your Peace; your Rock; your Mighty Warrior as you stand still.
Inherently, an Amazing God has amazing plans for His people who would follow him. But if we don't who we're following, then how can we...well....follow?
So it's time to pick up our bibles, grab a pen, discover who God really is and how he works personally through your life.
"The ABC's of God's Character"
Friday night study, tonight at 7:30pm in the Jr. High Room!
As we finished our Bible studies on discipleship last Friday night, we were reminded if we are going to follow God, we need to TRUST God [Proverbs 3:5-6]! So if we are going to TRUST God, we need to KNOW God. We need to know Him not just superficially and casually, like an acquaintance but personally and passionately.
As individuals we need to go deeper, higher and closer to God [Joshua 14]. And it is not just our intellectual knowledge of God, but an intimacy in knowing God. We will be discovering God's character through the Bible and ask the question, "Who is God to me?" Be sure to join us tonight to learn about the ABC's of God's Character.
We are taking retreat sign ups tonight! $30 payment to reserve your spot due next Friday, 2/15!
2 Thessalonians Chapter 1!
We had a blessed Wednesday evening, as we gathered together to fellowship and learn from God's Word. As you can see, there were a lot of heart shaped cookies!!! along with a great showing of friends, and we started the night with food and worship.
The girls headed next door to hear a short devotional from Stacie titled, "God's Got This" teaching from chapter 1 of 2 Thessalonians. Here points were: Be Thankful, God's Righteous Judgement and God's Got the Outcome". Meanwhile, next door the boys gathered to hear T's devo titled, "Make it Count" which included three C's: Count the Cost, Be Counted Worthy, and Count the days.
It was a blessed night. We took our first Retreat sign ups as well! Sign up this Friday at the welcome table. Have a lovely week and see you soon.
Calling us Higher, Deeper, and Closer than ever...
With the new year ahead of us, it's time to re-evaluate, re-fresh, and make changes to our approach
to worship and how close we want the Lord in our lives. Yes. Changes. And most of the time, change is for the better!
Again, we refreshed with Luke 9:23 (look it up for yourself!), then heard about a man named Caleb who was one of the faithful spies sent out to search the land of Canaan. Along with Joshua and ten other spies, they all brought back reports of giants in the land. But Joshua  and Caleb continued to believe the Lord's promise and "followed the Lord [their] God wholeheartedly" (Jsh 14:8). What was mind-blowing was, at eighty five years old, Caleb still embraced challenges by choosing to live near a strong enemy. Why? The challenges we face make us cry out and stay close to the Lord our God.
As disciples, it is important to stick and stay to the path God called us to travel, for our own good and ultimately, His glory. Challenges take us higher to the place God wants us to be, brings us closer to Him in times of trouble, and even deeper in love than before. That's where I want to be, amen? What a super blessed night! Keep holding fast !!
Praying for you Josh! Have a blessed time at Bible college!!
