Relationship Series: Be the Example!

Pastor David Higa blessed us with his presence from Calvary Chapel Echo Park last night! He exhorted {encouraged} us with this key verse:

"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12 NIV)

He outlined practical ways that we can live out our lives being an example for Jesus! How we can model Him in our words, conduct, faith, purity and actions. He shared with the young adults to put our hopes and dreams for a relationship and marriage "on the altar" before Christ so that He has full control of our future and our desires. Pastor David also emphasized spending time with like minded believers- those in the family of God that will uplift us and not bring us into temptation.

"Right relationships begin with a right relationship with Jesus" -Pastor Dave

We ended the night with a time of worship and fellowship, aka food!

Also this weekend is the Anaheim Harvest Crusade! It is taking place each night Fri-Sun at 7pm at the Angel Stadium. There are fabulous musical guests, thousands of attendees and a message from Pastor Greg Laurie about Jesus Christ. Try to make it to one of the nights and you'll be very blessed.

Lesson 2: Bible Basics Discipleship

We had a nice time at discipleship groups last night! Delicious food entries as usual, and great discussion. Our key verse to memorize was:

2 Timothy 2:15

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth" Amen!

We even practiced the scripture memorization "Patmos" style, which is: standing in a circle and reciting one word at a time until the whole group knows the verse and doesn't mess up! It was intense, especially the 4th and 5th round. Haha! Great job everyone!

It's been a great start of our "Bible Basics" study as we've gone through the essential doctrine of our faith in Jesus Christ. Come out and join us the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month!

Discipleship this Wed 8/21!

Hope you're having a great start of the week! We have discipleship small groups this Wed at 7pm in classroom 3A.

Homework is to finish chapter 2 in the New Life work book! Please bring a dish to share for our potluck! See you there!

Week 3:: Relationship Series!

We had a great discussion last night about the "turn ons" and "turn offs" that guys and girls want in a future spouse. More importantly, we heard what God says is important to seek out when trying to find "the one". Essentially we have to be "the one" first in our attributes, actions and mindset so we can match with the right person. And we were reminded that God always, always, always meets our needs!!

Pastor D shared the story of Isaac and Rebecca and how God led them to one another through certain steps that were apart of His greater plan. We learned that a man can find a woman serving God "at the well" and a woman can find a man praying to God "on the hill"!

Let's be encouraged that God knows our hearts and is doing a great work in our lives in the area of relationships. We can trust in Him for a fantastic love story and can depend on Him to walk us though.

Marriage God's Way & the Gift of Singleness

This was the second week of our relationship series. Pastor Dennis shared about God's design and purpose for marriage as well as His calling for singleness (or season for it).

Join us next week as we continue learning about relationships and hear answers about "turn ons" and "turn offs" for both guys and girls.

Discipleship: Faith Foundations

Small groups are BACK ON! We had a great night of dudes and daughter's of the King discipleship last night. We had prayer, songs of worship, a delicious feast of yummy flavors and great discussion.

God's Word says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!" in 2 Corinthians 5:17!

We have determined that in order to live out our new life in Christ, we must have a SOLID FOUNDATION. We are going through the New Life booklet that walks us through the foundations of our faith.
