The Same but Different Series: Part 2

Amazing night at the Bridge. We covered: "God's Divine Differences" - to grasp the intended roles God created for men and women. We studied the example of Adam and Eve in Genesis 2:18-25 to breakdown God's original design.

God gave MAN a very specific role. He created Adam first. He gave Adam a task: tend to the Garden of Eden and name all the animals. He entrusted him with those responsibilities. He warned Adam about the forbidden tree. He loved Adam enough to cause him a deep sleep, to provide him a companion.

We learn from the example of Adam that God intended for him to be a leader. He wanted Adam to be diligent with his work. He recognized that Adam needed help and none of the animals were suitable. In order to put Adam's greatest desire to sleep, he literally made him sleep and took a rib to form Eve. Do you have a great desire? Is it for a career or a relationship? Is it for marriage? If it's not the right time for it to develop, pray and ask God to 'put to sleep' your desire so that He can work on creating the perfect outcome for you, at the best time (according to Him).

We learn that WOMAN has a very specific role. He created Eve second. Her very purpose was to be a helper, a help mate to Adam. God designed her to follow Adam's lead and be diligent in her role. Adam had sheer excitement for her because she was a part of him (v.22-23). We see that the man will leave his Father and Mother (v.24) to join with his wife and care for her. What an honor to have a man pursue you, cherish you and care for you.

We learn from the example of Eve that God intended for her to be a submissive helper. She comes alongside her man, with her complimentary gifts and makes him better balanced. She supports him and points him to God. Whether you are in a current dating relationship or not, Eve's example shows God's original design which vastly contrasts the worlds ideals for a woman. In our world, independence and self-sufficiency are awarded. Here we see that a biblical view of womanhood is to lay down your own strength and desire to lead, and to follow God's outlined purpose as a helper.

When we stay in our intended roles as a man and a woman, we fulfill our greatest purposes in Christ. We reach our highest potential and can have the most satisfying relationships. Let's continue to look to God for our examples of how to relate to one another.

We wrapped up the night with worship and prayer. We also celebrated Sandra and Anthony's birthdays with chocolate chew cookies from Torrance bakery. Mmmm so gooey! See you all next week!
