Conversations with God: The Lord’s Prayer

An Ending to the Faith foundations series: while it’s important to know about God’s word and stand in him, it is even more important that we pray to the One who helps us to stand. In order to prevent prayer time from being another chore or a babble of words, it helps to know

-  The Person of God (who He is) - “Our Father in heaven…”

-  His Purpose and follow him – “your kingdom come, your will be done…” 

-  We need Him daily – “our daily bread”

-  Forgiveness from Him and to forgive others – “forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

-  To pray for others (intercession) - “Lead US not into temptation but deliver US from the evil one…”

-  Acknowledge the Greatness of God – “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

To Recap: Knowing about him, his greatness, submitting to

his will, praying for forgiveness and strength to forgive others, and praying on another’s behalf, brings God into our lives. Praying to Him shows that we are dependent on Him for everything.
