Serving Jesus with Eyes of Faith

We had a fantastic evening on Friday!

Pastor David Higa from Calvary Chapel Echo Park shared a thought provoking and challenging message with us about our faith. He expressed that, our eyes need to see Jesus, or our serving Him is in vain. That our serving Him is motivated in a response to His initiation of love. And that we are more than capable of serving or doing good things but in our flesh and apart from His work and person.

We heard about Old Testament examples of men and women of faith who looked to Jesus and allowed Him to be "the author and perfecter of our faith" {Hebrews 12:1-2}

We then, were challenged to deepen our faith and seek His face {Psalm 27:8} first and foremost. When we seek Him, we learn to know His example, and can become more like Jesus. Then, as a result we desire to serve in His following.

We also had our annual Thanksgiving celebration! Some years we go out to eat but this year we kept it simple and had a potluck! And wow! Did we have some great dishes. Thanks to everyone who brought a yummy dish to share.

WORSHIP GOD! Mid-Week Discipleship Small Groups!

Last night we gathered on a chilly, rainy night to share together as believers in Jesus Christ and celebrate His love for us. We had a lovely dinner {Rascals salad mmmm! Thanks Q!} and a delicious homemade cake {Thanks Windy!}.

We entered into a time of musical worship and then prayer for the team in the Philippines and those who couldn't be in attendance. Our small group discussion time focuses on the theme: WORSHIP! and the many ways in which we can express our love to Jesus.

We worship God with our attitudes, thoughts, actions, choices, bodies, voices, lips, hands, feet, relationships, talents, in corporate gatherings and in prayer. We worship Him because He is worthy. We worship Him because He is holy and deserves ALL glory.

Join us Friday night as we continue to worship God with our lives. We will hear from Pastor David Higa about being a servant for Christ.

***Don't forget it's our 4th Friday TURKEY fellowship - please bring a yummy dish to share!

See you soon. Keep the team in the Philippines in prayer! They will be serving overseas until Sunday, Nov 24th. Have a blessed day!

Psalm 1:1-2

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

Why I Serve!! Friday Night at the Bridge

We were personally challenged in a message by Leo titled: Why I Serve?

He gave his personal testimony of how Jesus impacted his life and how good God has been. As a result, he is compelled to serve and love others! We studied God's word and reviewed scriptures about this love for others and the command to love God's people.

We also made announcements for multiple ministries that folks could get involved with, including the church bookstore and worship team!

SERVE LIKE JESUS! Part III of our Servant Series!

Friday Night Study: Why Serve?

A blessed night on Friday as we continued our new series about serving God!

Anthony spoke about the motivation behind our service and covered these 4 points:

1. We serve because Jesus was the ultimate example and servant

2. We serve because it's the reasonable thing to do

3. We serve not because we "have to" but rather we "get to"

4. We serve and the burden matches the blessing

He shared from the Bible about Jesus washing the disciples feet {John 13:1-17}!

We were challenged to participate in our homes and church as a servant just like Jesus. We were reminded that we can find out our spiritual gift when serving and truly bless others.

Join us next week for part 3 of our series on being a servant!
